Utopium was contracted to supply the lighting rig and custom–made dollies for Jake Bugg’s biggest UK tour to date.

Taking the UK by storm this year with a summer full of festival appearances and chart-topping success, Jake Bugg is hitting the road again for the launch of his second album ‘Shangri-la’ visiting a number of the UK’s most prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall.

Previously playing in smaller venues where the majority of the lighting and PA systems were supplied in-house, Jake Bugg’s move into mid-size venues has required touring his own production. Having supplied lighting for Jake Bugg previously for Reading and Leeds festival, Utopium was contracted to supply the additional lighting fixtures, building on the original production aesthetics as the foundation of the design.

Utopium also designed and constructed telescopic dollies fitted with sunstrips for the production that could be easily installed and transported between venues. The dollies were designed to allow for height adjustments between six to eight feet to ensure they would fit with each venue’s specifications.

Jon Newman, project manager at Utopium, commented: “It has been great working with Jake and his production team throughout the summer and now extending this into Jake’s autumn tour. Using the original rig as our foundation, we have worked closely with Stu on supplying additional fixtures to enhance what was already there. Instead of starting from scratch, we have been able to see what worked and what didn’t firsthand and have changed accordingly.”
