The Irish Hairdressing Business Awards was established in 2003 to identify and acknowledge business acumen in the Irish hairdressing industry. For the prestigious ceremony, Utopium supplied over 200m of trussing, 50 hoists and extensive rigging to create the support structures for the set, audio system, video projectors, screens and lighting. The support structure had to be carefully rigged to maintain the set height, which was made more difficult as the venue floor had already been carpeted.
All the lighting was drawn from Utopium’s recently expanded LED inventory, with the exception of the sponsor logos which were projected from MAC 2k profiles. The set was illuminated with Philips Colour Blaze TRX, while the catwalk was lit with SGM P5 and X5 Strobes, with Martin MAC Quantum spots providing the effects and Chauvet Q wash 419Z’s illuminating the branding. In other areas 48 Smartbat Wireless LED uplighters provided additional venue and accent lighting.
Utopium’s technical project manager, Colin Bodenham, comments: “We had a very tight schedule to work to; loading in as the previous event is loading out is never the ideal start. However, the team was fantastic and all pulled together to ensure the venue was on point for this great event. It was very satisfying standing back after the strenuous load in to see the venue transformed in line with the clients brief and how we had visualized it in WYSIWYG.”
